Living Arrows

I am a bit late to the party, but I have decided to take part in Donna from What the Redhead Said‘s Living Arrows – which is a celebration of childhood!

We could all do with a little more celebration in our lives!

To quote Donna, “The project originally took it’s name from a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” and every Monday we share a moment from our week and invite others to do the same as part of this linky.”

Week 1/52 Living Arrows

Totally rocking his way into the New Year, he started this neat new little trick on the 2nd January – sitting up for a short amount of time unsupported!

Week 2/52 Living Arrows

Unconditional love – the sweetest moment.

There is one year and 11 months between RLT and his cousin, Ted. I had hoped that they would be close as my mum will be looking after them both three days per week. I really had nothing to worry about, as Ted demonstrated on 10th Jan at playgroup. A little boy dived into the inflatable ring where RLT was sitting (mistaking it for a ball pool as Ted had filled it with balls for RLT to play with)., the little boy clashed heads with RLT as he did so,  and tried to move him out of the ring. The little boy’s mum ran over to stop him being so rough with RLT, who was at least half his age, but that that moment, Ted came running over and became a human barrier between this little boy and RLT to prevent him getting back in. Ted, is usually the gentlest and quietest soul and the person generally looked after by his bigger sister, so this was unexpected. He asked RLT if he was OK and everytime the little boy tried again, Ted stopped him, telling him ‘No, Reuben is my friend’, which quickly developed into ‘No, Reuben is my brother’, which I thought was sweet as he was obviously trying to work out, in his two year old head, the feelings he had for his little cousin. This is one of those stories, where you probably had to be there at the time to understand! But the love these two boys have for each other is amazing. Here they are at lunchtime on that very day.
