I am taking part in Donna from What the Redhead Said‘s Living Arrows – which is a celebration of childhood!
We could all do with a little more celebration in our lives!
To quote Donna, “The project originally took it’s name from a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” and every Monday we share a moment from our week and invite others to do the same as part of this linky.”

Meh
A week of stress at work for me ending with appointments at audiology for the little one. There are concerns that he can’t hear out of his left ear, he failed his hearing tests at birth having to be retested three weeks later. They were fine at that stage, but once again he has failed them. We have to wait and see as he’s too young to test his ears individually, I feel sad. You don’t want life to be unnecessarily hard for your little one do you? I can’t do anything for him except wait. Sucks. Life feels so heavy at the minute!
Thankfully we’re off on holiday in ten days! So in preparation, I took the little man to get his hair cut. He doesn’t look like a baby anymore! He looks like a toddler! Waaaaaaaaaaa!

Exploring
My partner is still sad about his granddad passing and we had the funeral to attend on Thursday. So it has been a heavy week. As we were both off on Friday too, we took the little man to the Aquarium for the first time. He wasn’t that fussed, to be honest! We have a fish tank at home with shrimp, snails and a Siamese fighting fish, so he was a little bit underwhelmed! He did like the otters though and for some reason they had a family of marmosets and he enjoyed looking at them!

I decided it would be super fun to also go to the local farm for breakfast where they make their own ice cream. Their website said they did pancake stacks between 10am-12pm and as I live with pancake fans, thought this would be great and cheer my other half up at the same time RLT can look at the animals. So I got there, they didn’t do pancakes anymore but I could have waffles or crepes… thinking no more of it ordered two waffles, a crepe and two coffees….. then she totaled it up to £27. Wow. I’ve had cheaper breakfasts! However, it was lovely and we all took the time to appreciate the beautiful area in which we live whilst looking at the cows!

Birthday Boy
We now have a one year old. Eeeeeek.
It had been an emotional week as Mark’s Granddad died on Monday, he had been a role model to Mark since he was a boy, so it has been particularly hard for him.
Some friends at work had been told they were at risk of redundancy too, so as positive and happy as I was trying to be for the little one, lots of other things were going on in the background.
Emotions were kept in check and everyone pulled together for little man’s birthday on Saturday. We invited immediate family over rather than a whole host of people due to Mark’s family situation.
Little man had a great time with his three cousins, we couldn’t have asked for more glorious weather either. He got lots of toys, clothes and books, including this England rugby kit and ball, which he wore to watfh the rugby with his daddy.

My baba is one. I can’t quite believe how fast that has gone and yet I can’t remember what life was like without him. It has definitely been the happiest twelve months of my life.
He already has a very big personality and loves to laugh and dance.
Long may that continue, little man.

Bantz
Little one saw snapchat this week and now every time he sees my phone he woofs at it like a dog because he wants the snapchat filter on him to be the dog. I’m not a regular user of snapchat, but it’s crazy how he is picking things up so fast now – where did the ‘woof woof’ come from?!
‘We know frogs go la de da de da’, is also very popular in the house this week as he says the final AGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH very loud, which is cute. Shaking his head and gesturing no is also popular… mostly when he heads towards the tv stand to bang on the tv…….
Peekaboo continues to be popular and this week, my other half and RLT took to hiding behind a restaurant menu from me. It’s been a funny old week with the election happening; My partner runs newspaper websites, around 27 of them, so that is a lot of journalists to manage and MPs to report on, so we’ve hardly seen him this week. Then because of the hung parliament, there has been lots of opinion pieces etc… so we were glad to get out of the house for an hour when he finished work on Sunday evening.
