I am taking part in Donna from What the Redhead Said‘s Living Arrows – which is a celebration of childhood!
We could all do with a little more celebration in our lives!
To quote Donna, “The project originally took it’s name from a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” and every Monday we share a moment from our week and invite others to do the same as part of this linky.”
Week 30/52 Living Arrows
Holidays and sickness!
Funny old week! A bit ying and yang! We were on our lovely first family holiday for the first part of it, then about five hours after we touched down, all hell broke loose with illness!
First the little man got it, then I did! Oh lordy, it’s been bad! Seven members of my family in total got, what we think was the vomiting bug that has been going around, at once. It was my 34th birthday on Saturday, which I share with my three year old nephew, neither of us were in the mood to celebrate as we were ill, so mostly stayed in bed!
All on the road to recover now except for RLT, who is still struggling to eat and has the most horrific nappies. So I’m sharing happy memories of our holiday up until Wednesday!

We’re on holiday!
This week we are in Spain! Currently staying in an Iberostar resort, which I can’t praise enough for being family friendly.
I haven’t got many images to chose from this week as I haven’t had my phone out much! It’s my birthday next Saturday, so I got my present early, which was an waterproof camera, so all pics are on that! I’ll be sure to use one next week 😀
Here is a pic of me and little man on the balcony. He’s wearing his football shirt in honour of little Bradley Lowery, as many people did in our local area on the day of his funeral. My partner had interviewed Bradley and his family many times in the past, so they have been in our thoughts a lot recently.

The wheels on the bus
This week I got the call at work every parent dreads; little one has been in an accident.
A kid had been playing with a musical Wheels On the Bus book and when they went to put it down it caught my little one on the corner of the eye.
No lasting damage done thankfully but in that moment at work 30 miles away you feel pretty rubbish that you can’t comfort them when they’re upset.

Meh
A week of stress at work for me ending with appointments at audiology for the little one. There are concerns that he can’t hear out of his left ear, he failed his hearing tests at birth having to be retested three weeks later. They were fine at that stage, but once again he has failed them. We have to wait and see as he’s too young to test his ears individually, I feel sad. You don’t want life to be unnecessarily hard for your little one do you? I can’t do anything for him except wait. Sucks. Life feels so heavy at the minute!
Thankfully we’re off on holiday in ten days! So in preparation, I took the little man to get his hair cut. He doesn’t look like a baby anymore! He looks like a toddler! Waaaaaaaaaaa!

Exploring
My partner is still sad about his granddad passing and we had the funeral to attend on Thursday. So it has been a heavy week. As we were both off on Friday too, we took the little man to the Aquarium for the first time. He wasn’t that fussed, to be honest! We have a fish tank at home with shrimp, snails and a Siamese fighting fish, so he was a little bit underwhelmed! He did like the otters though and for some reason they had a family of marmosets and he enjoyed looking at them!

I decided it would be super fun to also go to the local farm for breakfast where they make their own ice cream. Their website said they did pancake stacks between 10am-12pm and as I live with pancake fans, thought this would be great and cheer my other half up at the same time RLT can look at the animals. So I got there, they didn’t do pancakes anymore but I could have waffles or crepes… thinking no more of it ordered two waffles, a crepe and two coffees….. then she totaled it up to £27. Wow. I’ve had cheaper breakfasts! However, it was lovely and we all took the time to appreciate the beautiful area in which we live whilst looking at the cows!

Birthday Boy
We now have a one year old. Eeeeeek.
It had been an emotional week as Mark’s Granddad died on Monday, he had been a role model to Mark since he was a boy, so it has been particularly hard for him.
Some friends at work had been told they were at risk of redundancy too, so as positive and happy as I was trying to be for the little one, lots of other things were going on in the background.
Emotions were kept in check and everyone pulled together for little man’s birthday on Saturday. We invited immediate family over rather than a whole host of people due to Mark’s family situation.
Little man had a great time with his three cousins, we couldn’t have asked for more glorious weather either. He got lots of toys, clothes and books, including this England rugby kit and ball, which he wore to watfh the rugby with his daddy.
