Visiting Daddy at work

Visiting Daddy at work

Rlt loved visiting Daddy in the newsroom! Here he is posing on the social media editor, Debra’s chair.

Although it appears Reuben’s lack of sleep last night has taken it’s toll on daddy.

R’s daddy is the head of digital at Johnson Press North East and he was doing a Saturday shift, so we popped in to say hi. Probably for the last time as he is moving to Johnson Press Yorkshire and we’ll definitely never be just passing the Yorkshire Post’s offices.

It was also Vicki’s last Saturday day in the office before she started her job as a celebrity journalist for the Mirror, so it was nice to meet her before she left.

Waterbabies

Waterbabies

Still can’t watch when I sit and video the under water swims at Waterbabies. I know it is in RLT’s best interests to go, as I definitely don’t want him to be like me around water. I can’t even put my face under the shower for fear of drowning (my Uncle did push me in a swimming pool when I was 6 and I almost drowned, so it is totally irrational).

RLT loves the bath – especially when Daddy does bathtime, so it is great that their bond around water gets further established through Waterbabies. I think it has provided them with a real chance to bond and have something for themselves where my interference is kept to a minimum.

He started when he was just under three months old, which I feared was a little too late, but in fact, I think it was actually too early. Many of the babies who are 6-8 months old are getting much more enjoyment out of it – so we think we will delay putting him through chapter two for the time being. That and with Mark changing jobs, we don’t know if he will be available every weekend to take him and I am DEFINITELY not doing it! No way, Jose!

Vaccinations

Vaccinations

Today is sponsored by baby tv and nurofen thanks for the advice @pics1981

Third round of injections – done.

Next ones are at one yearold, which should be fun, as I’ve already specified to my health visitor that I will not be consenting to the combined MMR jab and which for them to source me information on how to get the separate injections.

If Tony Blair can insist that everyone should have this cost saving injection, yet wouldn’t answer questions on whether he had actually let Leo Blair have it, no way am I risking it. So many contradicting stories about MMR and links to autism… but for the sake of a couple of hundred pounds, am I going to risk it? I think not.

Orla Kiely Baby

Orla Kiely Baby

RLT is officially now an orla kiely baby

Aunty Rachael very generously bought him his first Orla Kiely grobag with the boat pattern from Mothercare online.

Daddy then couldn’t resist buying him the apple design for his next size up grobag with mothercare had a 20% in store event!

RLT’s cot bedding and change bags are also Orla Kiely design – I had them shipped from America as there were from the range she did with Target. Sadly I couldn’t find them in store when I visited the Brooklyn store – so I missed out on bibs as they were an instore only item.

The cot bedding was a little bit of an early buy – he can’t have a duvet for a good year or so yet! But it had elephants on which is the theme of his nursery. Mark kindly bought me the Orla Kiely elephant ring as a present when RLT was born – when I go back to work, I will be able to have a little piece which symbolises him, with me. I’m not one for tattoos, you see…

Orla Kiely Preloved on Facebook

Orla Kiely Preloved on Facebook

RLT posts getting a lot of love on the orla kiely preloved group on facebook.

I got a little obsessed with this group when I first started maternity leave, but I’ve hidden it from my timeline now as it was taking over. Some of these ladies must have some serious cash to spend too as there is an endless bragging list of handbags and coats being bought!

I thought I had it bad, but I can’t justify buying the mainline clothing collection to myself – Uniqlo only for me!

World Smile Day

World Smile Day

‘Send me a picture of Reuben smiling’ was the instruction I received on WhatsApp – I thought ‘awww his daddy must need cheering up at work’. How silly of me. Next thing I see popping up on my facebook feed is that particular image of RLT promoting World Smile Day and for readers of Hartlepool Mail and Sunderland Echo to send in pictures of what makes them smile.

So at three months, RLT received his first piece of media exposure!
