I am taking part in Donna from What the Redhead Said’s Living Arrows – which is a celebration of childhood!
We could all do with a little more celebration in our lives!
To quote Donna, “The project originally took it’s name from a poem by Kahlil Gibran,
“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” and every Monday we share a moment (or a few!) from our week which captures a moment of childhood
Week 3
Finally over illness this week, so little man has had his appetite back and therefore more energy. Unfortunately back to work means less time with him and he’s been very reluctant to go to bed on his own, he wants one of us there at all times. In particular his Dada! His Dada has a three hour round-trip daily commute in a job which revolves around the news cycle rather than a shift pattern, so this isn’t always possible. So he’s stuck with me alot, much to his disappointment! To try and do more fun things with him rather than just being the one that makes him brush his teeth and get his nappy changed, I bought a load of play-doh and I taught him how to roll it out and make shapes. This seemed to get me back into his good books and he instigated getting a picture by pointing at my phone and saying ‘cheeeeeeseeeeee’. He then started pulling funny faces, which I managed to capture. So I think that was his way of saying that we needed to do more fun stuff together. So as I sit and type this, I am feeling pretty bad about working full-time and not giving him as much of his attention as often as he would like. Finding it pretty hard to find a balance a the moment. I also look at them and realise I haven’t dyed my hair in around six months from the look of the colour. I clearly don’t even look at myself anymore to recognise that. I feel I need to focus a bit more on the little man and me!

Week 2
Week of illness here! Not many places visited other than work ! Little man started the week ok but went downhill Tuesday onwards. He’d been poorly with his teeth over Christmas but it changed to a nasty cough and cold soon after. This is as much of a smile as he cracked this week!

We managed to get out to Northumberland on Saturday with friends, but he still wasn’t himself. Hoping he gets his energy back this week and back into routine!

Week 1
2018 is here! I can’t quite believe it! I was looking back on my phone last night to the first week of living arrows last year and can’t quite believe how big my baby got! I blinked and he is a toddler! Living Arrows has been a great way to capture those moments, so I will continue to make it my go-to linky in 2018. I managed to get a post together every single week, which I am extremely proud of (two of them didn’t post while I was in Cuba as stupidly didn’t realise how moderated their internet is, so they weren’t officially linked up but were written!).
Soooooo, this week has been a busy one in every camera roll, I’m sure! RLT was struggling with teeth and his lack of routine over Christmas, so he was quite niggly. Thankfully, he felt better when his Dada was off for four days this week, so we’ve had a lovely long weekend – first day of which we were blessed with the best snow fall I have seen in a long time. Quite anxious taking a little one out in the snow and ensuring he doesn’t get a cold – turns out he didn’t and I did! We had a lovely time for about ten minutes in his first snow, then he decided he just wanted to sit down… we should have looked ahead and bought a sledge in advance!
Hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! Thank you so much to Donna for featuring my image of RLT and his Dada in the park ahead of Christmas – the images below are the same park five days later! xoxo

Week 52
I cant believe we are here! An entire year of Living Arrows! A big thank you to Donna, Devon Mama, mummytodex, tippytupps , battlemum, mudpiefridays, Toby goes bananas and wrexhammama for all of the support and comments over the past 52 weeks. It has been a pleasure to watch your little ones grow virtually!

It has been a year full of fun, laughter and hormones (all mine). Going back to work in March was difficult, balancing everything continues to be an ongoing battle.. but we end the year as we started as a happy family. Work complicates things, but we can close the door at home and everything is perfect, which is more than I could have ever dreamed of! I look forward to whatever 2018 holds in store for us – we may even start planning a wedding!

Week 51
Sharing is caring
It is taking little man a bit of time to adjust to UK time again after our holiday to Cuba. We’ve had to stop his daytime naps to try and get back our routine, although on Friday he didn’t wake up until 8:40 and I felt like a new person!

Little man was officially 18 months old as of yesterday. He is looking such a mini-gent these days as you can see. The bond between boy and cat seems to have strengthened with us being on holiday and Orla Kitty going to the cattery. The cat goes to sit next to RLT willingly now, I thought it was an absolute breakthrough and such a change from her going in the opposite direction; until I witnessed him feeding her shortbread biscuits and then it all made sense. These two have bonded over their love of butter.
I cracked the Christmas shortbread open on Saturday and it didn’t take either of them long to cotton on to the fact that shortbread is one of the best things on earth. Now I am thrilled they’ve bonded, but sadly will have to break this party up as cat diabetes is serious and pretty sure she shouldn’t be eating any kind of biscuits let alone shortbread!

Week 50
So I didn’t realise my last two updates didn’t publish as I was in Cuba with limited wifi….
We got engaged last week on the beach in Cuba, so before we left on Friday we did a little family photo on the beach as RLT had a special tshirt made but didn’t quite feel like posing at the time! Kids, ey! 🙂

He wasn’t too in to it the second time to be honest, but we managed to get one where he was looking at the camera! Now back to reality and trying to get baby off Cuban time! He was doing the Hokey Cokey on the bed at 12am! I didn’t even know he’d taken the Hokey Cokey in at the mini disco! Funny little man! 🙂
