Blogtober | Flowers

Hmmmm flowers, this could be the shortest post in history.

I’m not a massive fan.

I refused to wear clothes with them on when I was a kid and I cannot stand the smell of them now.

However when I look into the garden and see them, I can appreciate them…. just nowhere near me so that I can smell them! We have quite a large rockery in our garden, so there are plenty of flowers for the little man to behead in there!

Blogtober | Education

My life is surrounded by education – I work in a college!

Education really is one of the best things we can get in life and I really wish I had better advice and guidance when I was younger, as I probably wouldn’t have made the same decisions as I did.

Decision error number 1 – Picking A-Levels

I’m not great at exams, I find it difficult to focus enough to retain the information – I definitely should have taken a vocational route. At the time, they were seen as qualifications for the stupid – GNVQ students being regarded to be studying for qualifications which would give them a qual which stands for ‘Generally Not Very Qualified’ and it is incredibly sad.

I struggled with A-Levels so much. My grades were rubbish, this will stay with me on my CV for life and these grades made university entry incredibly difficult.

Decision error number 2 – Following a boy to university

I studied in Leeds. My grades were rubbish, I didn’t get in to my firm choice and I withdrew from my insurance so that I could enter into clearing faster to get to the pub. I would have studied anything, but it had to be in Leeds. I applied for university when I my boyfriend at the time was at university in Leeds studying mechanical engineering. We were blissfully happy, until he got to university and started seeing his housemate behind my back. By the time I found out, I’d applied for university – I’d explored the city and made friends with people going there. I ended up dropping out of my clearing option, not surprisingly and changed university the year after. A much better decision for me, but I still didn’t apply myself enough. I wish I had listened more, gone to more workshops and been a little bit more studious.

Blogtober | Cars

Car is the one compromise we had to make to have a baby – we had a two seater sports car. However how much Mark did research into car seats being OK in this car, it was never happening!

We went and got a mom mobile – a Vauxhall Mokka I’m very happy with it. But it is no MX-5! If I could get Mark another car like this, I would. He misses driving it and as he drives for three hours a day, it is something that I know he would take great pleasure in having again!

I’m not a massive car fanatic. They get you from A-B as far as I am concerned! I had one car, a Renault Clio for years. It was almost like a brand new car by the time I got it as pretty much every part had been replaced. No one told me as a new driver that you had to check oil and water in a car – this resulted in a new engine…. actually more than once. Whoooooopsyyyyyyyy.

Blogtober | Babies

I’d never been maternal until my niece and nephew were born. More so my nephew. I was in a good relationship and I was the happiest I had ever been, so I started to think about children.

However, getting pregnant unexpectedly expedited any conversations we would have about having babies! In April 2015, I found out I was pregnant! We’d been together just under two years, lived together and after the initial shock were very happy and excited. Unfortunately life had other plans and at a scan we found out that the pregnancy sac was progressing, however the yolk was much smaller than anticipated and they thought it had not grown for a number of weeks. Horrific news and I’ll never get over and recover from those feelings. But it did make us both realise that having a child was something we definitely wanted. So after a few months to heal mentally and get life back on track, we decided to try for a baby and within that first month we were expecting! Fast forward nine months and RLT joined us!

He would never have been here if these series of events never happened, they say everything happens for a reason. RLT was meant to be. We wouldn’t be without him, he is everything.
